WHAT IS A CARBON CREDIT?

It is an international decontamination mechanism to reduce polluting emissions into the environment; it is one of the three mechanisms proposed in the Kyoto Protocol to reduce emissions that cause global warming and the greenhouse effect.

CARBON CREDITS MARKET

The carbon credits market started in 2001 and the firts countries to adopt them were Norway and Sweden.

It is considered an economic incentive to reduce emissions of those companies that generate large amounts of Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

The «compensation» is done through the purchase of carbon credits, which environmentally protects specific areas and Jarge territories.

The stock exchanges of Chicago, London, LA, NY, Spain, Brazil, already have a market and an oficial selling price every day.

This emission reduction certificate is used by govermments, private corporations, international organizations, brokers, banks and individuals.

We speak then of a Voluntary and a Mandatory Market.
